Monday, September 18, 2017
Wallan police seized two cars in the early hours o Sunday morning following reports of hoon driving.
The cars were caught virtually in the act of doing burnouts along the Wallan-Whittlesea Road, near Upper Plenty, with smoke and the smell of burning rubber wafting through the air when the nightshift patrol arrived.
The cars were impounded for 30 days, with a bill of $1,675 going to the owners for the towing and storage of their vehicles.
Two men, a 20-year-old from Woodstock and a 19-year-old from Sunbury, not only have no car and no finances, but will also be receiving summons to attend court.
Another vehicle at the location is also off the road after it was issued with a major defect notice.
Local police have received numerous complaints of hoon driving in this area and hope the impoundments will send a strong message to any other drivers who are considering this type of dangerous and illegal behaviour.
