Allen Leonard Rogers, a player in the Yea Football Club premiership team of 1950, has died at age 87.
Rogers, who became a school teacher, was a member of the Tigers team coached by ex-VFL player John McLeish, that defeated Seymour: 9.10 (64) to 6.5 (41) to take the Waranga NE flag.
Allen Rogers went on to play (22 games) with Footscray in 1952-53. He kicked 13 goals.
Allen Rogers was born on August 9, 1930.
A funeral service was held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Barooga, with the cortege proceeding to Cobram Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday (Sept. 27).
He leaves wife Marlene, and children Barry, Yvonne, Phil and Steve.
