The City of Whittlesea has welcomed Mernda resident Tom Joseph as the new North Ward Councillor following the passing of Cr ohn Butler.
The Victorian Electoral Commission conducted a countback on Wednesday (Oct. 4) to fill the extraordinary vacancy that occurred after the passing of Cr John Butler last month.
Votes for John Butler from the October 2016 election were redistributed to unsuccessful candidates according to the voters’ preferences.
Mernda resident, Tom Joseph, was declared elected after receiving more than 50 per cent of the votes and will be sworn into the position on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
