Saturday, January 20, 2018
Alexandra SES have provided this information about today’s (Sat.) road rescue at Merton:
Alexandra SES were put to the test in scorching temperatures today following an emergency call for help after a car crashed into a tree near Merton just before 10.30am.
Our volunteer team was joined by Merton CFA, paramedics and Alexandra police who assisted three people in the car.
The highway was closed for around one and a half hours while our SES volunteers used heavy hydraulic tools to extricate the passengers including spreaders, cutters and rams.
HEMS landed on the highway and airlifted one passenger to Melbourne at around noon.
Another passenger was transported via ambulance to the Alexandra helipad before a second HEMS airlifted them to Melbourne.
