Friday update: Cathedral Ranges fire


The bushfire at Catherdal Range State Park is now under control, according to the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning.

There is currently no threat to communities, but people should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.

Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.
Firefighters are patrolling this fire, including overnight patrols.
Bulldozers and firefighting vehicles continue to operate in the area.

Saturday March 17 has been declared a day of total fire ban for the North Central district.
Aircraft with heat-sensing cameras have flown over the fire to assist crews locate and treat any remaining heat sources within control lines.

Cathedral Range State Park remains closed, including all campgrounds, walking tracks and rock climbing sites.
The following sites, tracks and roads are closed: Neds Gully Campground, Cooks Mill Campground, Jawbone Carpark, Sugarloaf Carpark; Friends Nature Trail, Ned’s Gully Track, Little River Track, Messmate Track, St. Bernards Track, Jawbone Track, Ridge Track, Razorback Track, Wells Cave, Canyon Track; Lowersons Road, Little River Road, Cerberus Road, Tweeds Spur.
