Michelle Dunscombe, Independent Candidate for Eildon

Independent stands for Eildon seat

Michelle Dunscombe will stand as an independent candidate for Eildon at the November 24 state election. She released this statement today:

“Long-time Kinglake resident, wife and mother of two, Michelle Dunscombe has announced she will run as an Independent for the state electorate of Eildon in this years Victorian State
election.

“Michelle is excited, her community based campaign is underpinned by strong values and incredible volunteers.

The Eildon electorate takes in almost 100 towns across four local government areas, covering 10,027 km2 from Tolmie in the North to Powelltown in the South, Strath Creek in the West and Mt Buller in the East.

“’I made the decision to run as an independent for the seat of Eildon in the Victorian state election, with the support of family, friends and many community members because I love our region and feel that the ordinary voice has been lost in politics.’ says Ms Dunscombe.

“Inspired by a recent speech from Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland, the 2013 and 2016 campaigns of Cathy McGowan MP, Federal member for Indi and the wise words of Mary Crooks, CEO of the Victorian Women’s Trust at the recent Murrindindi Women’s Forum, Michelle made the decision to run and give the voters of Eildon a choice beyond the parties.

“Michelle has seen the successes of Independent politicians in both Federal and State parliaments and believes that it is time for more independents to be elected to Spring Street to better represent their communities.

“Michelle explains, “As an independent candidate my responsibility is to the people of the Eildon electorate. I am not bound by party politics, I can work with all sides and will always represent the best interests of our electorate.”

“With great support behind her and the invitation for other members of the community to join her campaign, Michelle is excited to announce her candidacy.”
