Brennan snubs candidates’ meeting

Labor candidate for Eildon, Sally Brennan, failed to appear at the candidates’ evening at Kinglake tonight (Tues.)   In a statement read to the meeting, Ms Brennan blamed “considerable pressures” for not attending the event, which was addressed by the other three candidates – Michelle Dunscombe (Ind.), Ken Deacon (Greens), and Cindy McLeish (Liberals).  

Yea Playground destroyed by fire

Yea’s Railway Park playground has been destroyed this morning (Sun.) by fire. Murrindindi Shire Council made this announcement at approx. 8.30am: “The Railway Park playground in Yea has been destroyed by fire. The area is now closed to the public and has been fenced off to ensure everyone’s safety.” More to come.

There was a general bye in Division 1 and Division 2 Saturday pennants bowls in the Central Bowling Division competition on Saturday (Nov. 17). Last-minute work by Eildon candidates

Eildon incumbent Cindy McLeish MLA was seen everywhere from the Mansfield Show to the Launching Place electorate office on Saturday (Nov. 17) in the lead-up to the November 24 State Election. Ms McLeish was pictured with Girl Guides Grace Cleland and Molly Baxter at the Mansfield Show.

New Yea property owners welcomed

Katrina and David Petfield have purchased a property on Yea-Whittlesea Rd, and were welcomed to the district this weekend by prominent Yea Rotarian Peter Tull. The trio spent Saturday afternoon at the well-attended Yea Races, which had a strong crowd which enjoyed glorious weather. More photos in Wednesday’s edition of The Local Paper.
