Some 17 men contested the Stableford Competition on Saturday. With cooler but still sunny weather and the course in great shape, John Tanner (19) took out the event with a fine 38 points.
Second on CB was Brendan Chenhall (14) from Alan Pell (12) with 37 points. Fourth with 34 points was Bill Dredge (20). There was no NTP on the 14th and Kevin Coghlan took out the Club Award.
Next weekend there is no golf at Yea due to the Races but interested golfers can play in a 4Ball event on Saturday at Seymour Golf Club, hit-off at 9:30am.
Courses for the Bellarine Golf Week have been finalised from April 1-5. All courses have carts included in the price. Monday- Curlewis GC ($67.50); Tuesday – 13th Beach GC (Beach Course) ($97.50); Wednesday- Queenscliff GC ($45); Thursday – Port Arlington GC ($65); Friday – The Sands Torquay ($55).
Most people are playing three days at least with about 20 members taking part. If interested in joining for a day or two or need cheap accomodation please contact Captain Alan.
Midweek Golf
Some 19 midweek golfers teed off early Wednesday morning in a Par Gender Challenge event.
With temperatures rising throughout the round, Michael Spagnolo (8) (pictured) found some form to register a +4 result with 74 off the stick.
Second for the Men was Ken Whitfort (8) with a credible +2 from Alan Pell (12) who beat Rob O’Halloran(19) on CB with square.
First for the Ladies was Captain Vicky Butler (36) with +1 from second Adrienne Anglin (16) with -2. Team averages were Men 34 to 32.8 to the Ladies.
There was no NTP on the 14th and Ivor Brayley won the Club Award from Ray Partridge on CB. Gender Points for the day went to Men 37 and to the Ladies 5.
Current totals are Men 168 Ladies 126. Still plenty of time for changes in the next and final month of competition.
Thursday saw a Veterans Event at Seymour with 62 players involved. Played early in the day to avoid the heat, Terry Chaplin with 37 points was Yea’s best performed player.
