Murrindindi Mayor Sandice McAulay has spoken about the 10th anniversary of the Black Saturday fires. Cr McAulay focused on the efforts of emergency volunteers, and the goodwill extended from the wider community. The full statement can be seen at the dindi.tv website.

Tonight will see a community screeing of Aftermath, Beyond Black Saturday. The TV documentary will ne shown tonight at 7.30 at the Toolangi/Castella Community Hospital, ahead of it airing on the ABC on Sunday night, February 3.

Murrindindi Shire Council will tonight consider the matter of a promotional sign that has been erected with out a permit in Kinglake. “Due to a misunderstanding by the signage contractors on behalf of the developer, the signage was put up for display immediately following the construction of the hoarding without the benefit of a planning permit,” says a report to Councillors.

The Kellock Lodge Fundraising Committee has received a $20,000 cheque from the Alexandra Uniting Church. Rob Chaffe presented Maurie Pawsey with the cheque, and was accompanied by Jocelyn Coates, Gillian Stewart, and Donna Walsh CEO of Kellock Lodge.

Nearby, at Mansfield, they have announced the Australia Day citizen of the year awards early, so friends can attend the presentations on Saturday. Andy Setchell, Luke and Tanya Purcell are the winners, with Hayley Wilson as the young citizen, and Val Kirley as the senior citizen, says the Mansfield Courier.
