Jack Russell points finger at Yea Saleyards

Yea man, Jack Russell, has accused Murrindindi Shire Council of breaching health standards requirements at the Yea Saleyards.
In a question put to last week’s Council meeting held at Yea, Mr Russell asked: “Why is Council in breach of health and safety conditions in respect to failure to provide truck washing down bunding and treatment at the Yea Saleyard facility on site?”
Michael Chesworth, Council’s Director, Corporate and Shared Services, responded: “Truck operators (owners and drivers) are responsible for the management of waste from cattle being transported in their trucks and the trucks generally have bunding and tanks to contain waste.”
Mr Russell asked: “Has the Council allocated funds for such essential treatment systems and if so, then please detail the specifications for compliance and a start and completion date.”
Mr Chesworth said: “Council does not have specific plans in relation to such a treatment facility.”
