Julian Bruere made Paul Harris Fellow

Julian Bruere was made a Paul Harris Fellow at the Yea Rotary Art and Craft Show on Thursday night.

President Ken Maxfield had the added extra pleasure of presenting successful artist Julian Bruere with Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

“Julian was selected by the Rotary Club of Yea to receive this recognition because of his generous, enormous and ongoing commitment and contribution to the Yea community especially the arts,” a Club spokeswoman said.

“Julian has been a regular face at the annual Rotary Art show for many years. He has been a consistent exhibitor of his watercolours and is a previous winner of Best in Show.

“Julian was judge in 2018 and though his extensive network, has encouraged other artists to enter their work. This year Julian was an integral part of the planning team and was the curator of the show, giving up much of his time to see that the 370 pieces of work were displayed to their best advantage.

“Julian was also a strong supporter of the former Yea Arts Carnivale and continues the annual Yea Wetlands Paintouts, bringing many artists together to paint in the beautiful wetlands as well as sharing his knowledge to assist budding artists.

“As well as being generous with his time, Julian has also donated several of his paintings for Art Show and Yea Arts Carnivale raffles, ensuring successful ticket sales as his work is very popular.

“A contribution of US $1000 has been made by the Rotary Club of Yea to the Rotary Foundation in Julian’s name who was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow pin and certificate at the Art Show opening.

“Congratulations Julian – the art world, the Yea community and beyond are thankful for your generosity and commitment,” the Club said.
