Tuesday, January 29, 2019
Len Jinnette, 95, was the recipient of an Australia Day honour from Banyule City Council on Saturday (Jan. 26).
Len, formerly a motor mechanic, is a prominent Freemason, and has been involved in many charity projects over the years.
One project includes collecting ring-pulls from aluminium cans, with proceeds from the recycling going towards Cottages By The Sea, a non-profit, non-government, registered children’s charity in Queenscliff, supporting disadvantaged young people.
Another project includes collecting used stamps, which are on-sold, and the proceeds go towards another charity project.
Len is a former Trustee of the Ivalda Masonic Temple Trust which cares for the Masonic Centre at Darebin. He holds the honour of being a Past Senior Grand Warden, in recognition of his 75 years as a member.
