Arthurs Creek man Mark ‘Squiz’ Squirrell is being honoured with an OAM in this year’s Australia Day honours. Mr Squirrell’s citation reads “for service to the international community through humanitarian aid”. 9.30PM FRIDAY: Emergency Victoria advises that two units are making their way to a fire, east of the Kevington Hotel, on the Mansfield-Woods Point Rd.
Firefighters are being kept busy at four fires reported in the Hoqua region. Six CFA vehicles, with units including Mansfield and Merrijig, are at Mansfield-Woods Point Rd, Howqua Inlet. Other fires are reported at:• Howqua,• north-east of Howqua, and• Dungeon Gully Track, Howqua Hills.
7.20pm Friday: Some 13 vehicles are fighting a fire in rocky country at Upton, near Longwood and Ruffy. Units from Ruffy, Longwood, Avenel, Creightons Creek and Upton Hill are some of the teams fighting the fire. Aerial support has been requested. More details to come.
