At 8.19pm last Wednesday (Sept. 25), Murrindindi Shire Council closed its doors to the public to discuss contractural matters.
When the meeting re-opened at 8.28pm, Councillors recorded that they had voted to spend $1 million on Yea Saleyards and roads projects.
Crs Charlie Bisset and Rebecca Bowles moved that accept the tender with the proposed tendered rates from Outcross Pty Ltd for scanning and weighing services for an initial two year term with an estimated total cost of $363,000, including GST.
The motion included authorisation for the signing and sealing of the contract for scanning and weighing services.
Subject to the satisfactory performance of the contractor in accordance with the contract, authority was delegated to the Chief Executive Officer, Craig Llloyd, to extend the contract by the two individual one-year extensions beyond the initial two year period at an estimated cost of $181,500 (incl. GST) per year.
Crs Margaret Rae and Jackie Ashe moved that the Council accept the recommendation by Procurement Australia and Council officers to award the 2019-20 Sealed Roads Resealing Program to VicRoads, trading as Sprayline Road Services for the lump sum price of $428,905 (excluding GST), consisting of works to be completed by June 2020 on the following roads:
• Allandale Road, Strath Creek
• Broome Road, Flowerdale
• Kinglake Community Centre Carpark, Kinglake
• Curlings Road, Flowerdale
• Dairy Creek Road, Homewood
• Falls Road, Strath Creek
• Flowerdale School Road, Flowerdale
• Goodall Street, Kinglake
• Goodall Street Carpark, Kinglake
• Gordons Bridge Road, Castella
• Gordons Bridge Road, Kinglake
• Hannas Road, Strath Creek
• Hazeldene Main Road, Flowerdale
• King Parrot Creek Road, Kerrisdale
• Kinglake-Glenburn Road, Kinglake
• Moore Court, Castella
• National Park Road, Kinglake West
• Upper King Parrot Creek Road, Strath Creek
• Upper King Parrot Creek Road, Flowerdale

Councillors voted to approve the allocation of a contingency amount as detailed in the report
They agreed to reallocate savings of $12,237 from the Sealed Road Resealing Program or any remaining savings from the preparation works and contingency amount to further works from the roads, bridge or road safety program. Full details of any reallocations are to be provided as part of quarterly capital works report.
• Murrindindi Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Craig Lloyd said that the Council has recently appointed a project manager for this important Kinglake streetscape project. “The next step will be to finalise the design and share with the community. We anticipate works commencing with the sealing of Aitken Crescent this summer.”
