An infcormation message has been issued today (Thurs.., Jan. 9) by Emergency Victoria about two fires in the Alpine National Park

This message is issued for Barwite, Boorolite, Brack Bridge, Bridge Creek, Chapel Hill, Delatite, Goughs Bay, Howitt Plains, Howqua, Howqua Hills, Howqua Inlet, Jamieson, Kevington, Knockwood, Lake Eildon, Macs Cove, Mansfield, Merrijig, Mirimbah, Mount Buller, Mountain Bay, Piries, Sawmill Settlement, Tamboritha.:

There are two bushfires located in the Alpine National Park, near The Bluff.

The Rocky Nob fire is currently contained and under control.

The Bluff Creek fire is approximately 4000 hectares and is not yet under control.

There are two spot fires to the South of the Bluff Creek fire in Butcher Country, Alpine National Park that are not yet under control however there is no fire activity.

The milder weather conditions and rainfall has assisted with fire suppression.

Although the weather conditions are currently favourable, high temperatures are forecast for later this week, which will increase the fire danger.

The Declaration for a State of Disaster is remains in place.

All State Forest and National Parks as well as Mt Stirling and Mt buller Alpine Resort areas remain closed.

No unauthorised personnel are to enter any of these closed areas.

Check the Parks Victoria and DELWP websites for public land closures.

Firefighters continue to work in the area.

Check the VicTraffic website (traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au/) or call 13 11 70 for road closures.

Bluff Hut and Lovick’s Huts have not been impacted by the fire.

There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.
