Invitation to Sustainability Expo

Environmental groups, sustainable food vendors and sellers of environmentally-friendly services or products are invited to be stallholdersat the Dindi Sustainable Living Expo in April.

The Dindi Sustainable Living Expo – set to run at the Yea Railway Reserve on April 14 – will celebrate the natural environment, sustainable rural living and all things environmentally-friendly in and around Murrindindi Shire.

Environment Portfolio Councillor, Bec Bowles, said the Expo will be a chance for the community to learn about and get inspired by new ideas, innovative solutions and current trends in sustainable living.

‘It will also be a great opportunity for the community to connect with environmental groups and businesses from all over the Shire and beyond,’ Cr Bowles said.

‘The kind of stallholders we’re looking for include food and drink vendors (especially community organisation or volunteer group vendors) and retailers of sustainable products (such as solar systems, water tanks and wicking beds).

“We’re also keen to have local makers showcasing and selling their wares. So if you make eco-friendly things – from nature-themed artworks to beeswax wraps, jams and chutneys or other locally-grown produce – we’d love you to be involved.’

“As well as the exhibition of stallholders showcasing their wares, the event will feature a variety of keynote speakers discussing issues such as sustainable living, land management, agriculture and the environment. With this focus on learning, we’re also looking for stallholders to give product demonstrations or teach practical skills to Expo attendees.,” Cr Bowles said.

‘Most of the Expo’s unpowered stall sites – which are approximately 3m x 3m – will be free, though prospective stallholders will need to submit and have approved an application before February 14.

“It’s going to be a really fantastic event, and a great opportunity for everyone to get excited about environmental sustainability in our own backyard,” Cr Bowles said.
