Fires take toll on local businesses
Tuesday, January 14, 2020
The Lake Eildon Tourism group says that the fires in north-east Victoria have meant a serious downturn in visitor numbers to local businesses.
James Anderson issued a statement today (Tues.) reminding people that the Lake Eildon area is open for business.
“The devastating bushfires across Victoria has taken its toll on many local communities, and our hearts go out to all those affected,” Mr Anderson said.
“Whilst the Lake Eildon area has not been directly affected in the emergency response – there has been a significant downturn in visitation to the Lake Eildon area, with many visitors to our region changing their plans at the last minute.
“This should be our busiest time of year with local business thriving. Sadly, that’s not the case this summer.
“It’s not too late to turn this situation around. We encourage you to take a road trip. Stay Local. Spend Local. Eat Local. Play Local. Experience Local. Local business in the Lake Eildon area need you now more than ever.
“Lake Eildon is open for business, and we’re all waiting with a smile.
“Support Local Business and experience this magnificent part of Victoria,” Mr Anderson said.
