Locals named in Australia Day Honours

Whittlesea’s Professor John Dewar has received one of the top awards in the Australia day Honours.
Prof. Dewar received the ‘AO’ post-nomional for services to education, through leadership roles in the ubniversity sector, and to professional organisations.
In the OAM section, Mrs Rosanna Baini, of Mernda, was noted for service to the Lebanese community of Victoria.
The Rev. Margaret Jane Blair, of Healesville, was saluted for her service to the Uniting Church in Australia.
Kinglake’s Peter Crook has been given OAM honours for her service to the community of Kinglake, and to veterans and their families.
Mansfield’s Associate Professor Cecily Jane Freemantle was cited for service for medical research, particularly to population health.
Former Greensborough and Bundoora MLA, Sherryl Garbutt, now of Brunswick, was acknowledged for her service to the people and Parliament of Victoria. ”

• Minister for Women’s Affairs, 1999-2001.
• Minister for Conservation and Environment, 1999-2002.
Doreen Patricia Gunn, of Seymour, was honoured for her service to aged welfare.
John Francis Harvey, of Wandin North, was saluted for his service to motor sports.
Service to the community of Lilydale was cited as a factor in the honour for Sylvia Shirley Ramsden of Croydon.
Similarly, service to the Mansfield and Bonnie Doon has led to an honour bestowed upon William Henry Romans, of Mansfield.
Marysville’s Anthony ‘Tony’ James Thompson was credited for his service to the Marysville community.
Fay Patricia Richards, of Chrinside Park, won a distinction for her service to people with a disability.
