Cr Charlie Bisset

Singer-songwriter skills sessions

Murrindindi Shire Council is inviting aspiring young singers and songwriters to express their creativity at free songwriting workshops in Kinglake and Alexandra.

The Council, supported by Creative Victoria and the Victorian Government’s FReeZA youth development program, is excited to be delivering this initiative for the community.

Youth and Recreation Portfolio Councillor, Charlie Bisset, said the songwriting workshops are a great opportunity for young people to develop self-confidence, songwriting skills and strengthen their relationships within the community, as well as an opportunity to showcase their passion for music.

“We are thrilled to invite young singers and songwriters from across the Shire to join our songwriting workshops, run by nationally-acclaimed music writers Kaitlyn Thomas and Cameron Deyell.

“Montville Lane Sessions will then bring its pop-up recording studio to the Yarck Hall on March 13-15 for young artists to record their original songs.

“Montville Lane Sessions is an initiative designed to provide professional development for young artists in regional and remote areas. The recordings will then go to the Universal Music Group which will provide professional feedback on those songs.

“Following the pop-up recording session, a community concert will be held at the Yarck Hall on Sunday, March 15 to showcase the talents of Murrindindi Shire’s young artists,” Cr Bisset said.

Registrations for the songwriting workshops are essential, so book now to avoid missing out.
