A Police officer has been charged following an investigation into an incident that is alleged to have occurred late last year.

The senior constable from a specialist unit has been charged with unlawful assault.

The charges relate to an alleged on-duty incident that occurred in the North West Metro Region on October 5 last year.

He will appear in court at a later date.
