The City of Greater Dandenong says there is a phone scam involving someone posing as an employee of the Council or other councils.

“We urge people to conduct the appropriate security checks when someone phones claiming to be from Council and never give out personal information over the phone, especially to people have have called you unverified,” said a Council representative.

The Council, led by Chief Executive Officer John Bennie, is inviting residents to contact the municipality if affected.

“You can find out more about scams and how to protect yourself from scammers through Consumer Affairs,” the Council said.
