BREAKING: Mitchell Shire stays in lockdown
Sunday, September 26, 2021
Mitchell Shire will remain in lockdown, the Victorian Deputy Chief Officer announced on Sunday morning (Sep. 26).
There had been hopes that the seven-day lockdown would come to a close at 11.59pm Sunday, as originally hoped.
Deb Friedman, Deputy CHO, said that Mitchell risked incursions from nearby areas such as Hume municipality. She urged Mitchell Shire residents to be tested, vaccinated, and to stay at home.
Jeroen Weimar, Victoria COVID-19 Response Commander, urged people in Kilmore, Wallan and Beveridge to get tested and vaccinated. Some 450 in Mitchell were tested on Saturday.
