The ageing skateboard half pipe in Hurstbridge, also known as the ‘mini-ramp’, will be removed.

The ramp, at Ferguson’s Paddock, near 1041 Heidelberg-Kinglake Rd, Hurstbridge, has reached the end of its life and was earmarked for removal when plans were announced for the new Hurstbridge Skate Park.

In addition to its age, the ramp is poorly located from a visibility and amenity perspective, a Shire representative said.

The new Hurstbridge Skate Park, which opened last year, is a more accessible alternative and provides a range of features for skaters to enjoy.
It consolidates up-to-date skating infrastructure, including a 1200H quarter pipe, 900H funbox with ‘noping’ and 1200H funbox with a chute.

The $150,000 redevelopment followed extensive consultation with users and the community.

“We encourage anyone who uses the half pipe to visit the new skate park at 959 Heidelberg-Kinglake Road, Hurstbridge,” said the Council spokesman.

“Council has also reopened the upgraded and expanded Eltham Skate Park following an $812,000 redevelopment. The park, on the corner of Susan and Bridge streets, has almost doubled in size and is suitable for a range of rider styles.”
