Police from the Dandenong High Risk Driving Unit last week arrested a 22-year-old Rowville mam after he was allegedly involved in a high-risk driving event on Atlas Boulevard, Dandenong South earlier this month.
During the early morning search warrant at a residential address in Rowville, Police seized:
n 2003 black Holden Commodore sedan
n Eight sets of number plates
n Seven street signs
It is alleged the Rowville man attended the Dandenong South event at approximately 11.10pm on Friday, July 1, where he allegedly performed burnouts in a 2003 black Holden Commodore before both rear tyres popped, leaving gouge marks in the local road.
The 22-year-old Rowville man was arrested on Thursday (July 7) and charged with 32 offences including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive in a dangerous manner, loss of traction, criminal damage, probationary driver driving a prohibited vehicle, handling of stolen goods, forgery and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He has been released on bail to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on November 2.
Sergeant Paul Holtzinger, Dandenong High Risk Driving Unit, said: “Our ongoing focus on high-risk driving behaviour has significantly reduced the ability of drivers to participate in and organise high-risk driving events in Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.
“Performing burnouts, driving at excessive speed, and other reckless behaviour behind the wheel not only disturbs the peace but puts yourself, spectators and innocent road users at risk of serious, and sometimes life-altering, injuries.
“If you think you can get away with recklessly putting the lives of those around you at risk, think again. We have teams of investigators at the ready, and if we don’t arrest you on the night, expect a knock on your front door.”
