WYNDHAM: Air Wing in Laverton chase
Monday, October 3, 2022
A man has been charged after he was detected travelling an estimated 120kmh above the speed limit in Laverton early on Saturday morning (Oct. 1).
The 22-year-old man has been charged with conduct endangering life, conduct endangering serious injury, speed manner dangerous and red-light offences.
The charges follow an incident where a vehicle travelling at a fast rate of speed on the Princes Freeway, was spotted by the Airwing, about 1.45am.
Officers followed the vehicle from the air as it exited onto Kororoit Creek Rd and along Leakes Rd.
It is alleged the sedan ran a number of red lights, passed motorists at speed and allegedly travelled at times up to 200kmh in an 80kmh zone.
Officers on the ground moved in when the vehicle was seen by the Airwing to park at an address in Tarneit.
The Tarneit man was arrested without incident and told police he just wanted to get home as soon as possible as he was tired.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended and the registered owner will receive a notice to surrender the vehicle.
He has been bailed to appear before Werribee Magistrates’ Court on March 3.
