MELBOURNE: Drug raid on Commercial Rd


The Prahran Divisional Response Unit have arrested and charged a man with commercial drug trafficking after detectives seized significant quantities of illicit substances, including methylamphetamine from a residential address in Melbourne on Wednesday (Oct. 5).
During the search of the Commercial Rd address, Police seized:
n One handgun
n Approximately 590 grams of what is alleged to be methyl-amphetamine with a potential estimated street value of more than $100,000
n Approximately one litre of what is alleged to be GHB
n Large quantities of prescription drugs
n A small quantity of what is alleged to be heroin
n Approximately $14,900 cash
n One Harley Davidson suspected of being a proceed of crime
n Several false identifications
Detectives commenced their investigation on May 31 after Police tracked a suspicious package to a residential address on Commercial Rd, Melbourne.
This led to Police executing a search warrant in the early hours of the morning.
The 59-year-old Prahran man has been charged with prohibited person in possession of a firearm, traffick a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, traffick and possess methylamphetamine, traffick and possess GHB, possess heroin, possess prescription medication, failure to comply with direction, negligently deal property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, and make use of a false document.
The man arrested was subject to a Firearm Prohibition Order at the time of the warrant.
The man has been reamend to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 19.
Investigation and Response Inspector Robert Nazaretian said: “Firearm Prohibition Orders are a powerful tool to stop firearms getting into the wrong hands
“The work we are doing is about ensuring those who seek to threaten the safety of our community are held to account.
“Police have absolutely no tolerance for drug traffickers and those in possession of illicit firearms; we will not hesitate to use all powers available to us, to keep our community safe.”
