Police have arrested four men who are believed to be part of an alleged drug dealing syndicate operating in the city.
The investigation came about following a report of suspicious behaviour on one of Melbourne’s trams.
Approximately $600,000 in drugs and $200,000 in cash was seized as part of the bust at an apartment complex in Exhibition St, Melbourne. Police will allege they were operating the syndicate from the premises.
Uniform officers from Transit Safety Division along with the Drug Taskforce, Clandestine Laboratory Squad and the Dog Squad executed the search warrant on Wednesday morning (Oct. 5), seizing the following items:
• 900 grams of methylamphetamine
• 100 grams cocaine
• 2900 MDMA tablets
• 28 litres of 1.4 butanediol
• Small quantities of prescription medication, cannabis, LSD and heroin
• $200,000 in cash
• Two tasers
• Two OC spray cannisters
n Two extendable batons
Four men were arrested, including a 45-year-old Melbourne man and a 35-year-old Melbourne man who have both been charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of drugs.
Both men were remanded in custody and are expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 25.
A 26-year-old Melbourne man was released and expected to be charged on summons. A 19-year-old Footscray man was released pending further enquiries.
