NILLUMBIK: Funds pledged for shopping centres
Saturday, November 12, 2022
A Liberals and Nationals Government would grant $150,000 to revitalise the Eltham, Montmorency and Diamond Creek Shopping Centres, as part of their Shopping Strip Recovery Plan.
Each centre will receive $50,000 to deliver upgrades, under the election promuise. These funds would include cash for beautification works, amenity improvements or funding for events such as street fairs and markets.
Shadow Minister for Small Business, David Southwick, said the commitment will give small businesses the confidence they need.
“The traders are struggling. Our plan will get them back on their feet, and bring back local residents to shop, dine and spend.”
Liberal Candidate for Eltham, Jason McClintock, said nobody knows what issues face our small businesses more than the Traders Associations of our local areas.
“Now is the time to invest and revitalise our local shopping strips, and by providing this support, small businesses across the area will have the confidence and certainty they need.”
