MURRINDINDI: Questions over latest Council blunder

Livia Bonazzi is paid at least $270,000 a year ($5192 weekly) to be Chief Executive Officer of Murrindindi Shire Council, and to ensure that paperwork is always of the highest possible standard.

Ratepayers are entitled to view the Agenda for the coming Council meeting in a timely way, so they can prepare and research.

The Agendas are usually published by 5pm on the Friday, prior to the Wednesday monthly meeting. For more than 24 hours, ratepayers have been unable to access the agenda for the July 26 meeting.

The link incorrectly points to the paperwork for a meeting held three months ago (April 26).

A good local newspaper’s job is to advocate and agitate. We have asked the following questions:

What is the reason for this? What level of unprofessionalism exists at Council that allows this to occur? Why was this link not double-checked prior to publication? Is it an attemptĀ to avoid scrutiny by the public, in the same way that the Council’s Satisfaction Survey is not being released immediately? Why is the Council printing incorrect information? Do Councillors believe that this is an acceptable standard of doing business? Does it meet acceptable governance requirements?

Will Ms Bonzaai take personal responsibility for this latest blunder? Or does she apportion the responsibility for this serious shortcoming to others?
