Detectives from Taskforce Lunar are investigating following a suspicious fire in Altona on Thursday morning, January 11.

The incident occurred at a tobacco store on Pier St just before 4am.

It’s believed offenders smashed the front window before throwing jerry cans into the premises and setting it alight.

The store sustained minor damage.

Police believe a burnt out white ute located in a car park off Altona Rd just before 5am is likely linked.

Investigators are treating the fire as a targeted attack and will look at any possible links to other recent fires.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the fire or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.
