GREATER DANDENONG: New footpath for Fowler Rd
Wednesday, October 9, 2024
The State Government has updated the design for the Progress St level crossing closure to include a new pedestrian footpath – further improving safety and access to local businesses in Dandenong.
Danny Pearson, Minister for Transport Infrastructure, announced a new Fowler Rd footpath will connect to the road bridge over Eumemmering Creek and existing footpaths in the area following feedback.
Works are continuing on the road bridge which will allow the Progress St level crossing to be closed and the Pakenham Line to be level crossing free in 2025.
The new footpath will be built on the south side of Fowler Rd to improve access and safety – while the South Gippsland Highway intersection will be signalised to cut congestion.
Parking will be indented on Fowler Rd, which will increase the road’s width to further improve safety and accessibility for all road users.
The Greater Dandenong City Council will deliver the new footpath following the completion of the project.
Project works will occur in stages to minimise disruption, with the project team continuing to work closely with businesses throughout construction.
