Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following a fatal assault in Port Melbourne.
A 36-year-old Port Melbourne man was charged on Monday, November 11, with murder.
He has been remanded in custody to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 14.
The charge follows an incident on November 8 where an 80-year-old South Melbourne man was located injured in an alleyway on Rouse St just before 10am. The man subsequently passed away at the scene.
The Port Melbourne man was arrested in a nearby carpark later that afternoon and taken to hospital under police guard.
