GLEN EIRA: Will there be a new home for Big Frog mural?
Glen Eira Council says that it is try to work on a solution for the popular Big Frog mural that was removed from Murrumbeena.
“The Story of Big Frog mural, a much-loved community project, was created in 2020-21 by artist Anthony Breslin in collaboration with the Caulfield Rotary Club, Murrumbeena Traders Association, and the local community,” a Council representative said.
“Council supported the project with a community grant that part funded this vibrant addition to Murrumbeena.
“While the mural’s removal last year was disappointing for the community, we were not involved in the decision to remove it and we do not believe it to be an act of vandalism.
“We’ve been actively engaging with stakeholders since the removal and are exploring options to relocate the original tiles, in part or in full, to a new location within the Murrumbeena community.
“Council is committed to exploring options for this important piece of community art and will continue working with Anthony Breslin to endeavour to find a new home for the mural, whether in full or in part,” the representative said.
