YARRA: Carjack bid in Bendigo St
Melbourne Divisional Response Unit have charged two teenagers following alleged attempted carjackings and a collision in a stolen vehicle in Richmond on Friday afternoon (Feb. 7).
It is alleged a stolen white Subaru Outback wagon pulled up behind a blue BMW on Bendigo St about 1.30pm.
A male occupant of the Subaru allegedly got out of the vehicle armed with a weapon and approached the male driver of the BMW.
The driver was not physically injured and continued driving towards Swan St.
A short time later, an occupant of the Subaru allegedly approached a man in a black Mercedes at the intersection of Burnley and Swan Sts.
It is alleged he brandished a weapon and attempted to pull the driver from the Mercedes. He was unsuccessful and the Mercedes drove off.
The Subaru, which was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary in Berwick on January 30, continued to Church St.
It was involved in a collision with an orange Holden Barina near the intersection of Hutchings Street.
The female driver of the Holden was not injured.
The Subaru then crashed into a parked black Jeep and flipped.
Several members of the public came to assist the two occupants of the Subaru before they allegedly fled north on Church St. They were detained at a fast-food restaurant before police arrived.
An 18-year-old Ringwood man was arrested and taken to hospital under police guard.
A 15-year-old Traralgon boy was arrested and taken into custody.
They have both been charged with: attempted aggravated carjacking (x3), theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, going equipped to steal, possess controlled weapon without excuse (x4), .driving offences.
