NORTH-EAST: More 513, 514 buses
There are to be more bus services more often in Greensborough, St Helena and Eltham North.
More frequent weekend services will be introduced later this year on Routes 513 Eltham – Glenroy via Lower Plenty and Route 514 Eltham – Glenroy via Greensborough, and on weekdays on Route 517 Northland – St Helena.
Feedback through consultation on the proposed FlexRide Greensborough identified a strong community preference instead for improving existing fixed route services in and around Greensborough, St Helena and Eltham North.
Improving services in Melbourne’s growing north-east is part of Victoria’s Bus Plan, the State Government’s long-term strategy to deliver holistic reform to the bus network across Victoria, said a Government representative.
Gabrielle Williams, Minister for Public and Active Transport, said: “We’re providing more frequent and reliable public transport that better connects people to jobs, education, services and onward travel on our rail network over more days of the week and more hours of the day.”
Vicki Ward, Eltham MLA said: “Local voices have helped us shape the new bus network in Greensborough, St Helena and Eltham North, ensuring it delivers the public transport services the community wants, at the times they want to travel.”
Colin Brooks, Bundoora MLA, said:
“We have listened to the community, which will see more frequent services on existing routes servicing the local community to make travel easier and more convenient to get them where they need to travel.”
