HUME: $250m promise for Mickleham Rd
Hume City Council has welcomed a promise by Anthony Albanese’s Labor Government of $250 million to duplicate Mickleham Rd from Dellamore Boulevard to Craigieburn Rd.
“With rapid population growth in Mickleham and Craigieburn placing increasing pressure on local infrastructure, this investment will significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for thousands of daily commuters,” a Hume Council representative said.
“This funding commitment is being delivered as part of the current Federal and State Labor Governments’ Road Blitz investment, with the decision to invest in Victoria’s roads reflected in the 2025-26 Federal Budget.
“With over 25,000 vehicles travelling daily on Mickleham Rd, this much needed upgrade will ensure that residents can spend more time with their families and less time on the road.”
Hume City Council has strongly advocated for this upgrade, highlighting the urgent need for duplication to ensure residents can move efficiently and safely throughout the region.
“The project will also improve access to employment, schools, and essential services while supporting long-term community livability.”
Hume City Mayor, CrJarrod Bell, said:“As our communities in Hume’s northern corridor continue to grow, it’s imperative our road infrastructure grows with them.
“By securing this investment, residents in Greenvale, Craigieburn and beyond will have a faster, less congested commute, which means getting them home safely and giving them back that time spent on long commutes.
