DAREBIN: Exhibition at Reservoir Library
Reservoir Libraryis alive with colour, emotion, and community spirit until Friday (May 23) as it hosts a unique art exhibition showcasing works from participants of ADEC’s Artability Workshops.
ADEC – Action on Disability Within Ethnic Communities – is a not-for-profit organisation that has long been a lifeline for individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, carers, and those living with mental health challenges.
Through a grant received from the Darebin Grants Team, ADEC has spent the past two years running free, inclusive art workshops across community hubs, neighbourhood houses, and senior centres throughout Darebin.
Led by a qualified art therapist, the Artability Workshops have provided a creative outlet and safe space for participants to express their emotions, build confidence, and connect with others.
Many of the artists are exhibiting their work publicly for the first time – a moment that brings a mix of excitement, pride, and nervous anticipation.
“This exhibition isn’t just about art – it’s about expression, healing, and inclusion,” says Kerry Maher-Musarra, Capacity Building Team Leader at ADEC.
