SOUTH-EAST: One man crime spree
Investigators from Casey, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation units joined forces to arrest a man allegedly involved in a string of crime across a three-week period in Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs.
It is alleged the man was involved in a series of offending between May 2-26 including:
- An alleged attempted aggravated burglary in Frankston South on May 2
- An alleged burglary in Shoreham on May 6
- An alleged attempted aggravated burglary and theft from motor vehicle on May 8
- An alleged burglary in Mount Eliza on May 8
- An alleged attempted aggravated burglary Mount Eliza on May 8
- An alleged aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle in Langwarrin on May 16
- An alleged burglary at a shopping centre in Langwarrin on May 16
- Two alleged thefts from motor vehicles in Frankston on May 16
- An alleged burglary at a newsagency in Somerville on May 17
- An alleged burglary and theft of motor vehicle at Carrum Downs on May 23
- An alleged burglary at a tobacco store in Cranbourne on May 24
- An alleged burglary at a tobacco store in Langwarrin on May 24
- An alleged arson in Carrum Downs on 24 May
- An alleged aggravated burglary in Carrum Downs on May 25
- An alleged aggravated burglary in Cranbourne South on May 26
- An alleged aggravated burglary in Cranbourne West on May 26
The offending also includes an attempted carjacking where it was alleged the man was driving a stolen silver Toyota Rav4 and collided with a Honda in Cranbourne West about 7pm on Sunday, May 11.
The man exited the stolen Toyota and approached the driver of a white Tesla who stopped to assist the occupants of collision.
The offender allegedly opened the door to the Tesla and dragged the driver out ripping his shirt and demanding the keys to the vehicle, however he was unsuccessful and fled the scene.
Four occupants in the Honda were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the remaining three occupants were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The driver of the Tesla was not physically injured.
Detectives executed a search warrant at an address on Dandenong Road East in Frankston where they located and arrested the 24-year-old Frankston man.
Also seized from the address were two stolen vehicles, one from an alleged aggravated burglary in Officer on May 22, and the other from South Australia.
The Frankston man is in hospital under police guard.
