NORTH-WEST: Charges after aggravated burglaries
Police arrested four people following a series of aggravated burglaries and vehicle thefts in Melbourne’s north-west on Friday morning (Aug. 15).
It is alleged the group entered a residence on Inkerman St Maidstone, about 1am.
The offenders allegedly stole a Mitsubishi Triton ute and keys to a Mazda 3 sedan.
The group is then alleged to have entered a residence on Pridham St in Mari-byrnong about 1.15am.
The offenders allegedly stole a Volkswagen Tiguan, keys to a Mazda sedan, two watches and a wallet.
It is alleged the offenders used stolen credit cards to purchase drinks and petrol from a service station on Ballarat Rd in Deer Park.
The group are alleged to have then driven to a residence on Pridham St in Maribyrnong where they entered a property and stole a lockbox containing sets of keys, a bag containing $2000 cash and a Honda ZRV.
The owner of one of the allegedly stolen vehicles tracked the vehicle to Inkerman St in Maidstone.
Officers attended and located the Volkswagen, Honda ZRV and an allegedly stolen Holden GTS.
An 18-year-old Maidstone man was arrested in the passenger seat of the Honda.
An 18-year-old man from Western Australia fled the scene on foot to Delacey St where he allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle but was arrested with the assistance of the vehicle’s owners.
An 18-year-old Lara man and 19-year-old Wyndham Vale man were arrested inside an Inkerman St residence.
It is alleged the Holden GTS was stolen from a Wyndham Vale residence on August 13.
The Western Australian man has been charged with aggravated burglary (2), theft of motor vehicle (3), attempted theft of motor vehicle (2), theft, obtain property by deception and driving related offences. The Maidstone man has been charged with aggravated burglary (2), theft of motor vehicle (3), attempted theft of motor vehicle (2), theft, driving related offences and possess Cannabis.
