MERRI-BEK: Coburg hit-run


n Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a woman following an alleged fatal hit-run in Coburg last month.
A 40-year-old cyclist was struck by a car on Moreland Rd about 6.20pm on August 24.
The Princes Hill man was taken to hospital where he died the following day.
Police allege the driver fled the scene without stopping to help the dying man.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested at a Lower Templestowe address.
She was interviewed and charged with fail to stop at the scene of an accident, fail to render assistance, fail to report collision to police and drive while suspended.
The Clifton Hill woman was to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
Detectives also arrested a 61-year-old Aberfeldie man at an Abbotsford address.
He was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
