Fawkner Highway Patrol officers caught two drink drivers in Roxburgh Park and Essendon Fields.
Police intercepted a five-seater vehicle on Western Ring Road, Gladstone Park, with seven people onboard, after it was detected travelling 130-kmh in an 80-kmh speed zone about 3.45am on Saturday, September 27.
The driver, a P2 probationary licence holder, tested positive for alcohol and returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.046, despite being required to be zero.
Five men crammed in the backseat of the car were all allegedly not wearing seatbelts.
The driver, a 19-year-old Roxburgh Park man, had his car immediately impounded.
He will be charged on summons with excessive speed 45-kmh or more, drink driving, fail to display P plates, and five counts of failing to ensure passenger is wearing a seatbelt.
The rear passengers, an 18-year-old Craigieburn man, three 19-year-old Craigieburn men and a 21-year-old Craigieburn man, were each fined $407 for failing to wear a seatbelt.
The vehicle was impounded at a cost to the driver of $999.52.
The diligent highway patrol officers later clocked a car travelling south on Citylink in Essendon Fields, driving at 156-kmh in a 100-kmh speed zone, about 4.50am.
The vehicle was intercepted, and the driver returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.122.
The driver, a 22-year-old Western Australia man, was served with an immediate licence suspension, disqualifying him from driving in Victoria for a period of 12 months.The car was impounded at a cost of $999.52.
The driver is expected to be summonsed to appear at a Magistrates’ Court at a later date to face drink driving offences.
