MORNINGTON PENINSULA: Financial boost for Rosebud Hospital
Rosebud Hospital is set for a refurbishment, with Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas announce a $4 million upgrade.
The hospital is set to receive new, modern ventilation and infection control systems that will improve overall safety for staff and patients.
The emergency care area is also set for an upgrade – which will enhance accessibility and make patient flow through the hospital more efficient and comfortable for those accessing care.
Operated by Peninsula Health, Rosebud Hospital provides essential healthcare to more than 130,000 residents and visitors in the southern Mornington Peninsula.
These upgrades will allow the hospital to continue providing high-quality care for local families and visitors.
The hospital provides a range of health services including emergency care, planned surgeries as well as range of community-focused programs.
These include dental care, same-day renal dialysis and chemotherapy, community mental health services and a recently opened melanoma clinic.
Peninsula Health has been supported through various capital grants for Rosebud Hospital, including $373,000 through the Medical Equipment Replacement Program for a new X-ray system and $710,000 through the Metropolitan Health Infrastructure Fund to relocate and enhance community mental health services.
Rosebud Hospital has received recent funding to improve vital infrastructure – including a complete energy-efficiency upgrade through installation of solar system and upgraded air conditioning.
“The redevelopment of Frankston Hospital is also progressing at pace – which will transform how families on the Mornington Peninsula access healthcare,” said a Government representative.
“The $1.1 billion redevelopment will deliver a new tower with 12 levels of clinical services, 130 more beds, new spaces for mental health services and 15 new operating theatres.
“Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals are now the highest performing hospitals in Victoria for Ambulance offload times, with more than 95 per cent of patients transferred into the Emergency Department within the 40-minute target.”
Nepean MLA Sam Groth (pictured) said: “At the 2022 State Election, I committed a Liberal Government to fund the $340 million Rosebud Hospital redevelopment – a pledge that has still not been matched by Labor.
“Any investment in Rosebud Hospital is welcome, but the amount promised by Labor for upgrades to ventilation and the emergency care area is a little over 1 per cent of the total redevelopment cost.”
