HUME: Drugs, ammo seized at Dallas
Police have charged two men and seized drugs and ammunition after they pulled over a car in Dallas on Monday night, October 13.
One of the men first came to police attention on Reservoir Drive, when the car he was driving – a white Nissan Qashqai – was allegedly involved in a collision about 9.55pm.
The driver was seen leaving the area at a fast rate of speed towards Meadow Heights.
Police tried to intercept the Nissan at the Hume Hwy and Barry Rd intersection in Dallas before the driver sped off and allegedly travelled on the wrong side of Barry Rd.
The Air Wing spotted a black BMW driving in convoy with the Nissan in Blair St before both vehicles pulled into a shopping centre carpark. The driver of the Nissan jumped out of his car and into the BMW.
A member from the Dog Squad and an Operation Nighthawk team intercepted the BMW at the intersection of Barry Rd and Blair St in Dallas.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of suspected methyl-amphetamine and ammunition.
Both men aged 30, from Dallas and Meadow Heights, were arrested at the scene.
The Dallas man was charged with dangerous driving while pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, speed dangerous, traffick and possess a drug of dependence and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. The man was in custody pending a remand hearing.
The Meadow Heights man was charged with traffick and possess a drug of dependence, handle stolen goods, going quipped to steal, possess suspected proceeds of crime and possess cartridge ammunition. He was bailed to appear before Broad-meadows Magistrates’ Court.
