BOROONDARA: Fast-track for 14-storeys at Camberwell

More than 90 new homes across two projects in Camberwell have been approved by the State Government.
Sonya Kilkenny, Planning Minister, has given the green light to two projects – including 57 new homes at 691-693 Burke Rd and 36 new homes at 552A Burke Rd.
Both projects are just around the corner from Camberwell Junction. The $66.7 million project at 691–693 Burke Rd will deliver one, two and three-bedroom apartments in a 14-storey building with 118 car parks, 50 bike spaces, new retail and office spaces.
Across the road, the $55.9 million eight-storey development at 552A Burke Rd will provide 36 new homes, a café and gallery, and a new pedestrian link to Lower Reserve beside the historic St John’s Anglican Church.
“We’ve fast-tracked more than 90 homes in Camberwell because it’s exactly the right place for them,” Ms Kilkenny said.
“We want more Victorians to have the same opportunities their parents had – that’s why our bold reforms are helping boost housing supply, in areas where Victorians have been locked out for far too long.”
John Berger, Southern Metropolitan Region MLC, said: “Camberwell’s an incredible place to live, and we want more Victorians to have the chance to call this community home and live close to the things that matter to them.”
