MANNINGHAM: Lightning strike at Templestowe
Fire Rescue Victoria responded at 9.50pm on Monday (Oct. 27) with an escalated response to a house fire on Peter-Budge Avenue, Templestowe.
This was after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported flames visible in the upstairs area of a two-storey home, after an explosion was heard from the roof area.
Firefighters arrived on scene in just under six minutes to find a fire already well involved in the roof area of the 15m x 25m two-storey brick veneer home. All three occupants had evacuated.
Working together, crews commenced firefighting operations internally to contain the fire.
The fire was deemed under control at 10.23pm, with firefighters working to extinguish fire in the roof space of the home and the central upstairs area.
The three occupants were relocated to alternate accommodation for the night.
Cause of the fire is believed to be a lightning strike.
A total of 34 firefighters responded to this incident.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene assisting FRV operations.
