MELBOURNE: Police hunt for offensive graffiti vandals
Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit have released CCTV and images of two men they believe may be able to assist following a spate of offensive criminal damage incidents in Elsternwick and Abbotsford.
It is understood the two men used stencils to spray paint antisemitic signs at six locations in Elsternwick and two locations in Abbotsford on Sunday 6 July.
Offenders first vandalised the wall of a building in Selwyn St, Elsternwick, just before 1am followed by glass windows of two restaurants on Glen Huntly Rd.
It isx believed the men then got into a blue station wagon, which had two horizontal roof racks, parked on May St about 1.25am which drove south on St Georges Rd then east on to Glen Huntly Rd.
Shortly later, CCTV shows the men spray paint a glass window of a vacant shop on Glen Huntly Rd, a bus stop just east of that location then two antisemitic signs in gardens on Glen Huntly Rd.
The same two men are believed to have travelled to Abbotsford where they spray painted a sign on a retail store on Hoddle St just before 2am.
Shortly later, CCTV show the men spraying paint an antisemitic sign with homophobic writing underneath at a licensed premises on Gipps St.
The first man is perceived to be Caucasian wearing a black bucket hat, black and white balaclava, black and grey checkered shirt, black pants and black shoes.
The second man is described to have a solid build and was wearing a black baseball cap, black ski mask, black rain jacket, black top, blue denim jeans, black gloves and black shoes.
Investigators are also looking into a criminal damage where the same stencil has been used to spray paint at the Croydon Railway Station in May.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the areas at the time and anyone who saw any suspicious activity.
