BAYSIDE: Clocked at 200-kmh
Bayside police officers arrested the alleged driver of a speeding vehicle in Melbourne’s southern suburbs in the early hours of Thursday morning (Nov. 13).
Police caught sight of a white Holden Commodore in the back streets of Brighton about 1.30am.
The Holden was allegedly spotted at speeds exceeding 200-kmh on the Nepean Hwy.
The vehicle was later seen entering a car park on Jamieson St in Cheltenham before the occupants left the car.
Officers searched the area and arrested the alleged driver.
A search was conducted on the 44-year-old Seaford man and police seized keys alleged to belong to the Holden as well as a drug of dependence.
Police searched the vehicle and seized a machete, a balaclava, housebreaking implements and an electronic device often used to gain access to and steal cars.
The Seaford man was to be interviewed by police.
The Holden was impounded.
Investigators allege the same vehicle was spotted earlier in the morning exceeding the speed limits on Beach Rd.
