NORTH-WEST: Air Wing in chase across suburbs

Police arrested a man following an extended follow in Melbourne’s north-western suburbs last Tuesday morning (Nov. 25).
Officers spotted a Toyota Camry allegedly driving at a fast rate of speed on York St in Moonee Ponds about 1.20am.
The Air Wing followed the vehicle through the suburbs of Aberfeldie, Essendon West, Avondale Heights, Essendon, Brunswick West, Brunswick, Moonee Ponds, Pascoe Vale South and Coburg.
It is alleged the passenger decamped the vehicle near the intersection of Hope and Bent Sts in Brunswick West before officers successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating all four tyres on Melville Rd.
The vehicle then turned into McPherson St – a dead-end street – and officers moved in, arresting a 32-year-old Gapsted man.
He was charged with fail to stop on police direction, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, unlicensed driving, failing to comply with an oral fluid test and drive manner dangerous.
He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court.
