NORTH-EAST: Ruffy decimated
“It looks like an atomic bomb has gone off,” Ruffy CFA captain George Noye told ABC Radio.
“[I’m] just down the main street at the moment, we’ve lost the old school, the old Ruffy produce store is gone, three houses on the main street. We’ve lost countless homes across the area. Ten of my firefighters that I know of have lost homes.” The destroyed former school had been converted to a community centre.
Exact details of the loss of property at Ruffy will not be known until a time when it is safe for CFA volunteers and officials to inspect the damage.
Just recently, the old Ruffy Store had been advertised for sale at realestate.com.au
It was reportedly “under offer” with an indicate price of $525,000.
