OBSERVER: Life, Oh Life
Gillian Cosgriff is funny, clever, relatable. Her show Life, Oh Life in the Arts Centre basement is therefore a ‘one to see’. There are a number of laughs, yet also many moments of reflection.
Cosgriff starts by acknowledging that this very moment in time is unique, the first of many food for thought life observations that piqued my interest.
Whilst there is a format including clever, musical songs Cosgriff is terrific, thinking on her feet, responding with genuine kindness, and respect to the audience’s suggestions.
Literally all the audience is involved in a non threatening way. Her questioning gains various insights which she seemingly effortlessly includes into her show with pathos, creativity, laughter.
Cosgriff has many talents as a writer, musician, singer, actor, stand up comedian. She has cleverly written songs which are a reflection on the society we live in, past present, future so there is something everyone can relate to, with lots of humour.
I had a smile on my face throughout as did most of the audience who were listening with ease to the clever lyrics that told a number of stories.
At times you could hear a pin drop, other times the theatre filled with laughter.
Cosgriff is a thinker, a clever comedian with a beautiful relaxed manner. It felt an honour to be a part of this unique show that, if over 16, has something for everyone, perhaps even everything for some.
